McCain: Yemen den nya fronten i kriget mot terrorismen

John McCain och Joe Lieberman befann sig idag där de talade på en presskonferens på den amerikanska ambassaden i Baghdads högbevakade gröna zon. Därifrån uttalade sig John McCain om situationen i Yemen och sa:

"We cannot allow Yemen to be a base for al-Qaida to mount attacks on other countries in the region as well as the United States," sa McCain och fortsatte med att betona att Yemens regering behövde USA:s stöd: "The government of Yemen is going to need our help in combating al-Qaida. There needs to be significant effort made at improving their economy."

Joe Lieberman som tillsammans med John McCain besökte Yemen i augusti förra året sa att han då träffat en amerikan som arbetade där och då sagt till honom:

"Iraq was yesterday's war, Afghanistan is today's war and if we do not act preemptively now, Yemen will be tomorrow's war."
