Där träffade han också Louisianas guvernör Bobby Jindal, såväl som delstatens senator David Vitter. Jindal tackade Romney för besöket och sa:
"You and I have talked several times. You said you wanted to support the folks, wanted to make sure they had everything they needed," Jindal told Romney when the group convened along the highway. "Appreciate you being here."
Romney för sin del sa:
“I’m here to learn and obviously to draw some attention to what’s going here,” Romney told Jindal. “So that people around the country know that people down here need help.”
Romney talade också med en handfull innevånare som drabbats, och dessa fick ett gott intryck av honom:
“I thought he’d be more like a politician, but it was more understanding and caring,” sa 42-åriga Jodie Chiarello. “He was caring,” she said, adding that she would “probably” vote for him.
President Obama kommer för sin del också att besöka Louisiana.

Det kanske var tur att Ryan inte följde med...
As Hurricane Isaac bears down on the Gulf Coast, there should be plenty of money - some $1.5 billion - in federal disaster aid coffers, thanks, in part, to a new system that budgets help for victims of hurricanes, tornadoes and floods before they occur.
It's a system that Paul Ryan, the Republican nominee-to-be for vice president, had hoped to scrap as a way to make his House GOP budget look smaller by about $10 billion a year.
