John Dennis får fortfarande ingen debatt med Nancy Pelosi

Nancy Pelosi är för närvarande USA:s mest inflytelserika kvinnliga politiker i egenskap av ordförande i Representanthuset. Dit har hon dock kommit genom att vinna Kaliforniens 8:e kongressdistrikt - ett distrikt där hon nu utmanas av Republikanen John Dennis. Distriktet är dock ett av de mest demokratiska distrikten i landet vilket gör att Dennis chanser i princip är obefintliga. Och av den anledningen har Nancy Pelosi heller inte ansett det nödvändigt att ens åka hem för att bemöta John Dennis, trots att denne förra månaden skrev följande vädjan till Pelosi:

Dear Ms. Pelosi,

As you know, you and I are candidates in the upcoming general election for California's 8th Congressional District. It's important for the voters of San Francisco to evaluate us as we defend our respective positions. To that end, a televised debate seems most appropriate.

I, therefore, invite you to participate in a televised debate on the current issues facing the citizens of the 8th Congressional District.

Our campaign team is prepared to work with your staff to find a suitable date, time, moderator and format.

Since Election Day is approaching, please conact us by Wednesday, September 22, 2010. Our team looks forward to working with your staff.

Peolosi gav dock inget svar, eftersom hon inte bara inte behöver åka hem, utan heller inte behöver bry sig om att hon utmanas av någon annan - vilket fick John Dennis att göra denna reklam-ad:



Hur är då ställningen mellan Dennis och Peolsi? Jag hittade inga opinionsundersökningar om saken, men fann däremot en artikel om valet i Kaliforniens åttonde kongressdistrikt som konstaterade följande:

Pelosi's seat is so secure that pollsters typically don't even bother with the race. The only known poll of a Pelosi-Dennis match-up puts him at just 19 percent, and it was conducted by WorldNetDaily—a fringe publication better known for conspiracy-mongering than electoral prognostication.
