Bradley Manning ber om ursäkt

Bradley Manning som snart kommer att få sitt straff tidsbestämt bad igår inför militärdomstolen i Fort Meade om ursäkt för sitt agerande när han läckte tusentals hemliga Pentagon-dokument till Wikileaks. Han förklarade att hans syfte varit att hjälpa, inte skada folk - och beklagade om det sista skett:

"I am sorry that my actions hurt people. I 'm sorry that they hurt the United States," he said. "I am sorry for the unintended consequences of my actions. When I made these decisions I believed I was going to help people, not hurt people. The last few years have been a learning experience.”

Straffet för de punkter han fällts på väntar - men trots att han inte fällts för den allvarligaste åtalspunkten kan han ändå få upp till 90 års fängelse.
