Min bloggkompis John Gustavsson har dock just, direkt efter den republikanska primärvalsdebattens slut, skrivit ett välformulerat och välgenomtänkt endorsement av Herman Cain på Caffeinated Thoughts, som lyder som följande:
I, John Gustavsson, Hereby Endorse Herman Cain
My name is John Gustavsson, I’m the Economic and European analyst here at Caffeinated Thoughts, and I hereby endorse Herman Cain for President of the United States.
For those of you who have been following my blogging over the past months, you know I’ve never been a very big fan of any candidate. I supported Mike Huckabee in 2008 and I would have been delighted to support him again this time around. Yet, we can’t always get what we want. I’ve withheld my endorsement partly because I hoped that Huckabee would get in again, and partly because I simply haven’t been impressed by any candidate. Then on the other hand, my standards are pretty high.
However, I have finally decided to support Herman Cain.
Herman Cain is one of few candidates with new ideas. Whether it’s a brand new tax plan (the best one any candidate has proposed), or a countercultural ad with a smoking campaign manager, he always comes across as someone who doesn’t care how other people do it. Herman Cain is an entrepreneur, first in the private sector and now in politics. He is enthusiastic, he is optimistic, and he is results-oriented.
Herman Cain is a man whom I feel I can trust. His lack of experience in politics is more than outweighted by his long successful record in the private sector. He will be an outsider in Washington Dc, and no place needs outsiders more than Washington does.
While he isn’t perfect (I’ve criticized him in the past), I am now fully convinced that there is no better candidate in the race than Mr Cain. He is not only the kind of man who could sign legislation if elected; he is a man who can make americans believe in their country, in their future, and in that shining city on the hill again. Ronald Reagan had those qualities as well, and just like Reagan, Cain is having to endure an unbelievable smear campaign from liberal media. Liberals feel threatened by Herman Cain, not because of his poll numbers, but because he reminds them so much of the man who defeated them in 49 states and who made America understand that government is not the solution to our problem, but rather it is the problem.
They are afraid the same thing is going to happen again. I believe those fears are fully justified, and therefore, I endorse Herman Cain for President of the United States of America.
Thank you.
